Role Summary/Purpose

Digital / Firmware Engineer primarily responsible for design and development of Electronics Boards & associated FPGA Firmware (VHDL) for NextGen Interventional & Mammography systems . Responsible for BOOT SW / 8/16/32 bit processor, Debug Tools usage of JTAG , Logic Analyzer, Mixed Signal Oscilloscope. Knowledge of High speed board designs / components preferred

Essential Responsibilities 

• Designing Electronic Boards and interconnects having Digital, FPGA, Analog, Power electronics & Control systems components
•FPGA Firmware development in VHDL ; Hardware / Firmware integration ; Unit level testing & Verification
• Engaging in all phases of new product development, including concept, architecture, documentation, design, prototype, test, supplier interfaces, manufacturing introduction and service support
• Identifying and developing new opportunities to leverage Strategic Sourcing objectives and Common Technology initiatives in the modality product line
• Ensuring reliability, performance and delivery through supplier relationships

Qualifications/Requirements 

• Masters / Bachelors in Electronics / Electrical engineering
• 3+ years of industrial experience in design and development and has participated in full product design cycle.
• Highly skilled in digital and analog circuits involving FPGA designs. Should have thorough knowledge & design experience in areas of ADC, DAC, Memories, Power circuits for digital designs. Knowledge in DSP would be an added advantage.
• Experience in VHDL / Verilog programming, Simulation and FPGA synthesis & timing analysis.
• Experience in simulation techniques using simulation tools such as Matlab.
• Good knowledge of PWA/PWB design techniques. Experience in signal integrity and EMI/EMC design requirements.
• Strong problem solving skills. Should have understanding of systematic analysis & troubleshooting of mixed signal designs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desired Characteristics 

Working knowledge of schematic entry and design analysis tools.
• Memory.RT SW Knowledge preferred
• Experience in Reliability engineering and design for manufacturability
• Green Belt in Six sigma.
• Exposure to full product life cycle
• Exposure to Component Obsolescence Management( new replacement selection, verifying compatibility etc
